What is known, however, is that he will not be leaving. He was killed and joined his comrades in death.

The shell must’ve been fired far out of normal range otherwise he simply wouldn’t have a leg anymore. Not only that, but the shell somehow managed to miss major arteries. There’s no bleeding during the surgical extraction. That’s a 1 in a million injury right there. He’s a lucky bastard.

Russian soldier that was chained by his “comrades” and left behind due him not being in a state to fight. The reason? He’s addicted to opioids and going through withdrawal. He’s actually lucky: none of his squad survived.

The Ukrainians jokingly offer him some painkillers if he can say “Palyanitsya”. He is unable to, thus he will have to bear the uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms.
